Our Commitment
The Senior Traveler is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply the relevant accessibility standards.
Our goal is to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.
What We Do
We take the following measures to ensure accessibility of The Senior Traveler:
- Include accessibility as part of our editorial and development process
- Use semantic HTML to ensure proper document structure
- Provide text alternatives for non-text content (alt text for images)
- Ensure sufficient colour contrast between text and background
- Make all functionality available from a keyboard
- Ensure all interactive elements have visible focus indicators
- Use clear, readable typography sized for comfort
- Design responsive layouts that work across devices and screen sizes
Known Limitations
Despite our best efforts, some parts of this website may not be fully accessible. We are aware of the following limitations and are working to resolve them:
- Third-party images: Some images sourced from external providers may lack comprehensive alternative text descriptions.
- PDF documents: Older PDF documents (such as the Media Kit) may not be fully accessible. We are working to provide accessible HTML alternatives.
- Dynamic content: Some dynamically generated content may not be immediately announced by screen readers.
