How a hotel earns our confidence.

A note on what sits behind a recommendation.

Behind every hotel we recommend is a dossier, not a press release. We build a picture from thousands of guest reviews, location and amenity data, and the recurring themes that only emerge once you read enough of them — the lift that is forever “temporarily out of service”, the breakfast that is genuinely worth waking for, the room category to avoid because it overlooks the bins.

We assess each property against the things that matter most after fifty: a bed you sleep well in, a bathroom you feel safe in, a location you can manage on foot, and service that treats you as a guest rather than a transaction. We do not publish scorecards to punish, and access — paid or hosted — never decides the verdict. The room is judged exactly as it would be experienced.
